Meditation is rooted in Eastern Religion. Most known of these is Buddhism. Buddhists themselves make the best teachers of meditation, not only for those who follow their ways, but for the populace in general.
What is meditation used for? The ultimate aim is contentment, a oneness with nature. To achieve this it has to overcome all the niggling issues that prevent its final aims.
Now I am not advocating that everyone entering into meditation should take this long journey, unless they should wish to, but to use the meditation process to overcome worry and indeed any anxieties they may possess.

The first step is to find a quiet, peaceful place where you will not be disturbed. Then engage in a few stretching exercises to wake yourself up and also to prevent twitching or the flexing of limbs during meditation.
Get yourself in a sitting but erect position and begin to relax. Close your mind to other issues except the one you wish to concentrate on. This will be a gradual process as some issues will be reluctant to go. Eventually your mind will be rid of the bombardment of everyday matters and will be concentrating purely on the worry you wish to address. Once in control you can start to repeat phrases over and over which address your worry. For someone who worries over everything it may be as simple as “worrying never changed anything”. Or it may be some action to take on a regular basis which will prevent the worry before it can start.
Whatever is said will be individual to you, but it must address the core issue.
When you feel the time is right, this could be after five minutes or an hour, gradually become aware of yourself and surroundings. It may take a few seconds to come fully back to reality. When you have recovered, reflect on how you now feel. You may be surprised!
